Located in the foothills of the coastal range, our home is just a short drive to devastatingly magnificent hikes in redwood forests. We have adult sized three bikes available for use. Our home easily sleeps 7. We have a full bath with a separate shower and tub as well as two powder rooms. We are an experienced home exchange family.

Piedmont is a 10,000 person, tree-lined and landscaped town located just a 20 minute drive or brief train ride into famous San Francisco. Piedmont is clean, beautiful, safe and dotted with magnificent parks providing venues for walk or play facilities for children that are the pride of the Bay Area. Just steps from our home are athletic fields, an olympic size track, and a few steps further, a swimming pool and playground. Walking the streets of Piedmont is a treat in and of itself with it's magnificent homes, tree-lined streets and landscaped parks. We have our own responsive police and fire department as well as very friendly neighbors. Our neighborhood is just a few blocks away from the grocery, stores, cafes, and trendy restaurants that make the East Bay famous.On Saturdays there is a weekly farmer's market within walking distance providing access to local produce, arts and crafts, prepared food and entertainment for the whole family. Piedmont is surrounded on all sides by Oakland and just below the Oakland Hills where the Regional Parks offer magnificent hikes with breathtaking vistas among Redwood groves. We would like to exchange for one week or less in Las Vegas, preferably near the Strip. There will be four of us: the parents, Lynda and Andy, and two adult children 24 and 22, all of us experienced exchangers.

Hi. There are two in our exchange party. There's Lynda, the wife and psychologist (that's me) who is very much into organic gardening, cooking, decorating, painting and knitting. Andy, the husband, and also a psychologist, loves sports, theater, painting and politics. We have two adult children who are in college who will not be traveling with us at this time.. Our psychology offices are near the trendy neighborhood (Rockridge) which is right at the BART train station. We have a golden retriever, "Clove" who is a retired breeder for Guide Dogs for the Blind, and "Carlo", a two year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who will not be at home when you visit.

We have done two previous successful exchanges: London in 2000 and Amsterdam in 2002. We have loved living in the community where we can learn first hand about the culture and best of all, have more chances to get to know people in other countries. You will find that we respect others' property (as we are sure you will do), and take responsibility for making sure that your home is in the same condition as when we arrived. In London, we watered the "garden" and took care of the cat. In Amsterdam, we watered the rooftop garden, too.
