Our spacious family home, built in 1970, renovated in 2003, is situated in the beautiful town of Castricum.

Our home is well equipped to handle a busy family or a couple looking for comfortable relaxation. The ground floor has a large living room with a fireplace and a dinning section with an open kitchen. Anneke loves to cook and you will find a small but very well equipped kitchen at your disposal. You enter our garden through the living room. A storage room with full laundry facilities and loads of games is located next to the kitchen. On the first floor you will find the master bedroom, a TV room and the childrens' bedrooms as well as a modern bathroom with a walk in shower and a separate bathtub. The house has wireless high-speed internet access. A study with a large library is situated at the top floor.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed and a private washbasin, TV and DVD. Tim's room is large enough to comfortably accommodate two children. The smaller bedroom of our daughter has a highsleeper, specially designed for our princess. We can put a spare bed in the study, where a washbasin is also available.

Our cosy backgarden offers a BBQ, a nice lounge set and two sitting areas. Our small neighborhood has its own very save, secluded, tree bordered, playing field with play facilities only 30 meters from the house. A convenient mall is 400 meters away.

Staying with us you can enjoy a large collection of games, music and books on various subjects in English and German (fiction and non-fiction).

Our home would be comfortable for a family of 4 or 5.

2013 is a special year to visit our area as Amsterdam has been declared the second best city in the world to visit that year (by Lonley Planet). The highlites among others 400 years Grachten and the long awaited reopening of the Rijksmuseum. Castricum is situated in the middle of nature. You have free access to the dunes of the province North-Holland from Bergen to Wijk aan Zee and the Kennemer-Dunes. There is plenty of space to hike, cycle or ride horses through dunes and woods. Castricum beach is an excellent place for surfers, swimmers and sun worshippers. From our home it is one kilometer to the North-Holland Dune Reservation, Kennemer-Dunes. The beautiful North Sea beach is only three kilometers away. A distance easily handled by bike (this is the way we Dutch do it). Bikes are available. Quiet cycle and pedestrian routes lead to the sea and through the dune reservation.
The historic cities of Amsterdam (25 km), Alkmaar (10 km) and Haarlem (15 km) are very close and offer great day trips, even by public transport (25 minutes by train to Amsterdam). The historic towns of Volendam, Edam and Marken are less than an hour away. The ferry to the island Texel and the historic cities of Utrecht, Leiden and Den Hague are within one hour by train or car and within 2, 5 to 3 hours you can have a lunch or dinner in Antwerp, Brussels, Gent or Aachen.

We are non-smokers. Car exchange is possible.

We, Anneke and Peter, are a married couple in our forties with two children (Nina 8, born October 2003 & Tim 11, born February 2001). Peter, a trained cultural anthropologist, just started his own company working in energy and sustainability. Anneke, a trained art historian, is working as coach and trainer.
