We have our exchanges set for this summer 2013.

In this house you can see the famous dutch sky, painted by the old dutch masters for real.
Our house is right at the canal on a newly developed island. Because of the crisis the land across our house is not being developed, which gives us a 180 degrees view of the IJ-lake. Plus a big communal vegetable garden with a little beach.

We can offer you our modern, 3 story family home (approx.140 m2) with a private small back yard and a terrace at the canal.

Spacious living room with kitchen (all amenities), playstation, stereo, high speed wifi, flatscreen, toys, dining table etc.

On the 1st floor you will find the master bedroom with a king size bed (180cm). A bathroom has the with separate shower, a bath tub, toilet and a wash basin.

2nd floor where you can find 2 smaller bedrooms, an office and toilet. One bedroom is for my son, with a doublebed (140cm). The other is used as a guestroom with a single bed that easily can be turned into a double (160cm). On the front of the house is another bigger room which is used as our office, easily turned into a bedroom. Washingmachine, dryer and an extra toilet.
Cleaning service available.

Behind the garden shed (with 4 bicycles) is a private parking place underneath our carport.
The house has high stairs and there is open water in the front, maybe not so suitable for very young kids.
But you can swim in the canal!

NB. there are only 2 pins on the view area map of Amsterdam. This is not where IJburg is.

So many things to do here. Other exchangers loved Amsterdam and the Netherlands for its culture and outdoor activities. Lots of museums with Rembrandt, van Gogh etc. In summer it's great to walk/hike or cycle (everybody cycles in amsterdam) around the canals, have diner at one of many terraces, go shopping or hang out in the parks. Lots of historic cities around like Haarlem, Gouda and Utrecht (30 minute drive). The beach is only 30 min drive. But it is also a great place from which to go to other european cities. Paris is only 3 houres away by highspeed train, Antwerp and Brussels 2 hours drive, Berlin and London 1 hour by plane. almost everybody speaks english. We have great neighbors to assist you.

IJburg is an upscale residential area. There is a tram line connecting the islands to the city and Amsterdam Central Station.

The peace and quiet, the fresh air and open space, the big houses and the wonderful modern architecture attracts a lot of young, creative, urban families. Lots of good restaurants around the corner. Also good grocery stores in walking/cycling distance.
The area is great for outdoor activities, you can hike and cycle everywhere. we are a nation of cyclers!
IJburg in the summer feels like a holiday island.

summers in Amsterdam are not as hot as in the Mediterranean. Very good to travel summer.

We are a family of three. Mum (Priscilla) works as a freelance motion designer and dad (Onno) is a freelance television director. We love architecture, photography and travelling. We love the beach. Our son Niels (2004) is well behaved and careful with your belongings. We love to take care of your house as we would ours and keep it nice and tidy.
And we love home exchanging and the feeling of living like a local.
And we have a sweet cat named Scully. We hope you will take care of her and we certainly wouldn't mind taking care of your cats.
Our son niels is currently very interested in modern architecture and we are trying to feed this interest. So any city with great architecture is interesting for us!
